516 Staff Conflict of Interest
The purpose of this policy is to clarify staff confilict of interest in regards to employment with ISD No. 15
II. GENERAL STATEMENT OF POLICY
The Board will not hire the grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, grandchild, son, daughter or in-law (“immediate family”) of a Board member except by unanimous vote of the full Board. Also, the Board will not hire members of the immediate family of a professional or support staff employee in the same administrative unit or under the same immediate supervisor as the employee except by unanimous vote of the full Board. At no time, may any administrator be directly responsible for the supervision or evaluation of a member of his/her immediate family.
B. Disclosure of Interest in Legislation
To the extent that he/she knows thereof, a staff member, whether paid or unpaid will publicly disclose the nature and extent of any direct or indirect financial or other private interest he/she has in legislation before the Board.
C. Investments in Conflict With Official Duties
A staff member will not invest or hold any investment directly or indirectly in any financial, business, commercial, or other private transaction that creates a conflict with school duties.
D. Private Employment
A staff member will not engage in, solicit, negotiate for, or promise to accept private employment or render services for private interests when such employment or service creates a conflict with or impairs the proper discharge of official school duties, not will any staff member engage in any private business on school property.
