May 6, 2019
Dear Senior Class Students and Parents:
The Commencement Exercise for 2019 graduates will be held Friday, May 31 at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Francis High School gymnasium. There is will also be overflow seating available in the St. Francis High School Performing Arts Center with live broadcast of the commencement ceremony.
Qualified seniors are invited and encouraged to participate in the graduation program. To be eligible, a senior must have satisfactorily completed a minimum of 57 authorized credits and all required testing. Seniors need to take care of attendance detentions, reconciling bills, justifying lunch accounts, returning any library books and/or textbooks, etc., before May 31.
This practice is mandatory for all seniors planning to participate in commencement. Commencement practice is a school event and all school rules apply. Any violation of these rules may result in removal from the commencement ceremony. On Friday, May 31, seniors must be in their assigned seat by 9:00 a.m. in the gymnasium for practice and are instructed to leave school immediately following.
CAPS AND GOWNS
Caps and gowns will be distributed on Friday, May 17. You will also receive your four admission tickets for the commencement exercise. While space is available, if needed families may request up to two more tickets. This must be done via email though Amanda Stene. If you are unable to pick-up on this date, please come to the St. Francis Main Office between 7:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to pick them up prior to May 31. If you have not paid for your cap and gown yet, please see Amanda Stene in the Main Office to make payment.
HONORS CORDS AND TASSELS
If you have achieved a GPA of over 3.5 at the end of your second trimester of high school, you qualify to graduate with honors. The cord and tassel will be distributed with the caps and gowns on Friday (OVER) May 17. If you would like to keep the honor cord and tassel, they are $8 each or $16 for both. This can be paid in the Main Office to Amanda Stene anytime between May 17 and May 30. If you choose not to keep them, they must be turned in after the commencement exercise when you receive your diploma.
Seniors are encouraged to wear the formal cap and gown for Commencement and must follow our established school behavior policies at practice and the Commencement Ceremony. This is a formal event and students are expected to dress and behave appropriately. At the senior meeting in April, students were also told to get prior approval if they planned to decorate their graduation cap.
ALL-NIGHT SENIOR CLASS PARTY
Please consider having your graduate attend the All Night Senior Grad Party, which occurs immediately following the graduation ceremony at Splitrock Entertainment Center in Wyoming, MN. For more information, contact Nikki Humphrey at email@example.com
