St. Francis Area Schools Multicultural and Equity Committee
Posted 05/08/2018 03:52PM

St. Francis Area Schools Multicultural Diversity Program is seeking individuals to form a Multicultural and Equity Committee. We would like to enlist input and support from a variety of perspectives, backgrounds, experiences, beliefs and ideas to enhance and improve knowledge and understanding of our diversity within the community.

Currently in St. Francis Area Schools, we have 19 unique languages identified and 59 percent of our multicultural students speak a language other than English at home. Our school district reports 13 percent of our enrollment are students of color. A core value of St. Francis Area Schools, "We believe that everyone benefits when culture and diversity are understood and respected," exemplifies our commitment to this important work.

The Multicultural and Equity Committee will host its first meeting on Thursday, May 24, at St. Francis High School Saints Room, 6:30-8:00 p.m. The purpose of the first meeting will be to define the goals of the committee and seek ideas of how to move forward with this important work.

Please contact Carline Sargent with questions and to RSVP by emailing or calling her at 763-213-1575.
