Professional Learning Communities (PLC)

Licensed staff in St. Francis Area Schools are working with a sense of collaboration through Professional Learning Communities (PLC). PLC provide educators an avenue to collaborate regarding student learning and effective instructional strategies. The three concepts of the PLC include clarifying what each student will learn and how educators will ensure the learning, building a collaborative culture because the work cannot be completed in isolation and using various forms of data to monitor student learning and respond to the learning in effective methods. Licensed staff will participate in their PLC during the morning of nine scheduled days and one full day during the school year.

There will be a 90-minute late start on the third instructional Wednesday of the month to accommodate for staff PLC time. For the 2018-19 school year, these dates are:

September 19
October 17
November 21
December 19
January 16
February 20
March 20
April 17
May 15

St. Francis Area Schools is offering an option for parents of students in kindergarten through fifth-grade to register for supervised care from 7:15 a.m. until school begins at 10:50 a.m. Visit the PLC Optional Care page for more information.
