Troy Ferguson, Superintendent of St. Francis Area Schools

Summer is in full swing, marked by the 4th of July holiday. Congratulations to all our graduates from St. Francis High School, Saints Academy and Saints Online schools. Thanks go to our staff and administrators for making the event so memorable and a special thanks to our Technology Department staff for their outstanding work in live streaming the ceremonies, which are available for viewing at http://live.isd15.org.

As we look forward to the 2018-19 school year, the addition of school based mental health services in our schools is an exciting development worth noting. Recent statistics cite that up to one in five kids living in the United States shows signs or symptoms of a mental health issue in a given year (Source: www.cdc.gov/mentalhealth). Schools are faced with dealing with students who need mental health services.

As reported in the June issue of The Courier, students and their families will now have the opportunity to have…

Troy Ferguson, Superintendent of St. Francis Area Schools

St. Francis Area Schools is a destination public school district.

Over the years, the work of our dedicated staff has made continuous improvements districtwide that align with the mission. This year alone, we have seen the success of Saints Manufacturing, St. Francis High School robotics, Future Farmers of America and Crossroads School & Vocational Center Victory Garden. We have also seen growth in established programs including elementary technology, special education and Positive Behavioral Intervention Systems in our elementary schools.

Our support of alternative learning programs, vocational technology classes and advanced courses through our pathways programs has supported different futures our students can aspire to. Our extracurricular programs are competitive on a state and national level—putting St. Francis Area Schools on the map. I thank our coaches, teachers, parents and volunteers for their effort and support of …

Superintendent's Bulletin • April 2018

Troy Ferguson, St. Francis Area Schools Superintendent

All schools and afterschool activities were canceled and an exhaustive investigation by local law enforcement resulted in an arrest. We can’t know for sure what may have happened if this threat wasn’t taken seriously, but we can say for sure that because a student spoke up …
