History

The community of St. Francis Area Schools approved the $80,060,000 bond referendum on November 7, 2017 to address critical deferred maintenance and physical facility needs, improve districtwide safety, security and accessibility, and enhance educational spaces and learning environments. Prior to moving forward with a bond referendum, input from the community was gathered through a survey, a public forum and a dialogue session. During the election, St. Francis Area Schools administration and school board members reached out to community members at local events and hosted many public forums.

SFES construction

Construction at St. Francis Elementary School started March 3, 2019 but exterior work will be delayed. The delay is due in part to the school district’s desire to coordinate with the City of St. Francis and the Minnesota Department of Transportation regarding the its safety study of the Highway 47 corridor and how that may impact the proposed school district site plans, which includes a road connecting the middle school with the elementary school.

Ground Breaking

SFHS Bleachers

ADA-compliant bleachers and the new track were ready for the SFHS Homecoming game.

Existing bleachers were dismantled in preparation for new ADA-compliant bleachers. This project is planned to be finished prior to the start of the 2018-19 school year.

The track resurfacing project is part of the long-term facilities maintenance revenue budget and is taking place at the same time as the bleachers are being improved.
